Dallas It Is

A six year old doesn't care why his Nana chooses to live in Southern California over Dallas where he lives. He only knows that he misses and needs his Nana close by so he can visit frequently (every chance he gets). We've been bonded so deeply from the beginning of his life. I came back to Dallas three months ago for a visit with him and I just knew it was where I was supposed to stay. For now I live in the Ramada Inn in a little two room suite and it's enough. My furniture is in storage here and my car's being shipped back from Cali. I've got my eye on an apartment around the corner from his and he can pop over often once I move there. I believe that sowing into his life with my presence and my encouragement wrapped in doting love is what that little boy needs and this Nana needs to do. So once again I'm back. Yeah, there are mosquitos and flies in Texas (I swear I never saw any in SoCal) the air conditioning life is normal seven months of the year (75 degrees Fahrenheit is the average temperature year round in San Diego), but nothing takes the place of that little boy's presence. I'll be staying in Dallas. Smile.

Questions I'm Asking Myself

It's been said that all human problems can be resolved by returning to your values, the basic virtues and values in which you believe at your core. And that, additionally, whenever we're unhappy for any period of time we should stop and ask ourselves, "What are my values? what is really important here?"
Now, add to those, this question, "What would I do, how would I change my life, if I won a million dollars cash, tax free, tomorrow?"
The purpose of this question is to help you determine what you would do if you had all the money you needed. What would you do if you were free to choose your course of action? What would you do if you could do or have anything you wanted?

What would be the first thing I'd do?
What would be the second thing?
What would I get into or out of?
What would I buy or what financial situation in my life would I resolve?
*Sometimes these questions trigger a lightning bolt that enables one to see clearly what one really, really wants in life.

I Loved Working Here

Downtown Dallas' Historic West End

I was Leasing Director in the early 90's after leaving the Dallas Cowboys. I was responsible for overseeing all the retail merchants and restaurants. I had some of the most fun working days ever there!

We were just blocks from Sixth Floor Museum at Dealy Plaza.

An Observation About Humans

An observation I have made:
People will let you down. Jesus NEVER does.
I will let you down, Jesus NEVER does.

Paint and Brushes

I like to paint pictures
brushing life onto canvas
mixing perfect colors,
boldly trying for beauty

I like to gift them
when they're finished,
though it's hard to feel
they're ever done
and a part of me
still resides in each one

1 Corinthians  - The Love Chapter
"Love does not take into account a wrong suffered." (13:5)
Rehearsing/replaying the offense suffered is unloving as it is
'taking into account a wrong suffered'."

Lonely Sucks

It ain't no easy thing. Lonliness comes calling on the richest and the poorest. As for me, I've always been okay with being alone for hours sometimes even days. I've gone to restaurants and eaten all by myself many times. Movie theater alone? No problem. I like my company I guess, and my mind is always whirring. However, there comes a time when being alone just plain sucks, you know? Enough already. I haven't had true companionship for years. God created humans and saw that they needed companionship to thrive - remember the story - He saw it was not good for the man He'd created to be alone so He created woman for him. It's there in Genesis, the first chapter of the bible. So, when people say to me, "why do you NEEEEED a man, boyfriend, husband et al.?" They must be okay without companionship. Or they are maybe not happy with what they have and wish they could be without them.  I don't know, maybe they're just superhuman. Even if they say that they can focus on God more that way, well, that may be true for them, but you can't discount the many spiritual giants we read about who had a spouse and children and a ministry even, and managed to keep a close, intimate relationship with God too. It's true, God created the first human to have relationship with Himself, but He realized as stated in Genesis, that they needed companionship with each other too. Humans were created to pair up. Period. I'm just sayin.
